The Julie Gilbert Papers contain a comprehensive collection of Gilberts research and production files for "Opposite attraction: the lives of Erich Maria Remarque and Paulette Goddard", including the original manuscript for the book. The collection also includes various stages of drafts, proofs, production and publicity files, research files for the biography containing both personal and business correspondence of Remarque and Goddard (including letters between them and Alta Goddard, Paulette Goddard's mother), printed materials, legal files, transcripts relating to the trial and beheading in 1943 of Remarque's sister Elfriede, audiorecordings and transcripts of individual interviews. Julie Gilbert's original organization of the archive was preserved as much as possible.
